Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Way Too Hard

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Players have started using personalized games made via the Portal feature to finish these tasks, underscoring just how demanding these missions have become.

Understanding BF6 Assignments

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four classes of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 main guns available in the game.

A number of these restricted firearms could shortly make their appearance on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This task is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and functions solely at very short distances, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Ridiculously Tough Mission

Another Reddit user brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and maybe an additional option in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.

The Bypass

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

Yet, if completing the missions in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for grinding them out in a personal session so allies are not impaired?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because if they're not, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.

For now, the community continues to voice their opinions on these challenging in-game tasks, anticipating a fairer gaming experience in future updates.
